The collection consists of a cancelled share certificate for the Georgia Railroad & Banking Company stock dated March 16, 1866 made out to Azariah P. Cobb and signed by John P. King and J. Milligan. On the certificate is a note "Transfd. to James White, July 20, 1867." Attached is a power of attorney for A.P. Cobb to Joseph Milligan to transfer above stock to James White, signed by A.P. Cobb and the notary public James A. Carlton on July 18, 1867.

John Pendleton King (1799-1888) was born on April 3, 1799 near Glasgow, Kentucky. While a young boy, King's family moved to Bedford County, Tennessee.
